Our Work

Rotary Youth Leadership Awards

Select members of our Interact team attended a 4-day trip in Longbeach WA. At this ceremony, they learned more about themselves and how to become a better leader. Everyone who attended this event learned new skills, gained new friendships, and discovered how to better themselves to build a strong team. We are all extremely grateful for this amazing opportunity that we've been given and had a wonderful time.

Representation Book Drive

We partnered with a local elementary school teacher to discuss types of representation students don't see enough in books. From that, we created an Amazon wish list full of recommended books. For months, we connected with locals and encouraged donations. We plan to donate the new books come the start of 24 to 25 school year.

Bridge Baskets

At the District 5030, we connected with Tracy, Director of Development for Bridge Receiving Center. Bridge is a Residential program supporting children in foster care located in Snohomish County. We collectively decided to host a service event to put together than donate gift baskets for their current residents.

Tent City Meals

In 2024, we donated two meals to Tent City; a community made up of temporary housing set-ups. One of the meals went to Issaquah Tent City and another to Seattle Tent City. We had a lot of fun working together to cook balanced meals, and we look forward to volunteering more time towards donating to local Tent Cities.

70's Party at Timber Ridge

One of our interactors had a connection with staff at Timber Ridge. We thought it would be a fun community project, to put together a 1970's themed party for residents! Interactors and residents had a blast dancing, eating ice cream, and taking pictures! We hope to do more projects similar to this one in the future!

Clothing Swap at Issaquah's Sustainability Fair

We couldn't think of a better place to host a mini clothing swap than our local annual Sustainability Fair! It worked very similar to the first clothing swap, participants filled out how many items they brought walking into the swap. Then after browsing our selection, they recorded the number of items leaving with them. We had 480 pieces donated during to the swap, and about half got taken home. We donated the remainder to Ridwell, a recycling company also attending the fair.

Rotary Team Challenger Series Race Car Prep

The Series Race will be held in September and is a gravity car race that allows those with mental and physical disabilities to experience a thrilling soapbox derby-type race. Our team met with the Issaquah Rotary to help repair and clean up these cars so that they're shining when September rolls around!

Mental Health Workshop:

On Sunday May 1st, we hosted a virtual mental health workshop in partnership with Northshore Interact. This workshop covered the following topics:

  • Advice & tips from medical professionals

  • Mental health resources & support

  • Coping mechanisms

  • How to look out for others while taking care for yourself

  • And more!

Letters of Sage Workshop

Our team created over 50 cards for our local firefighters to say thank you for their dedications and sacrifices they make to keep us safe. They have to work extra hard during the pandemic and sometimes go under-appreciated so we wanted to share some love with them.

Valentine's Day Project

For our Valentine’s Day project, the Issaquah Interact Club created paper roses and hand-made cards to spread love to the elderly communities of Timber Ridge, Spiritwood, and University House! Together we made over 50 cards and 20 flowers and received a good deal of positive feedback from our targeted retirement homes.

The Grape Escape

With tastings from local wineries, distilleries, and restaurants, Grape Escape is Rotary’s largest fundraiser! Listed are some of the projects these funds go toward: Our Interact Club, The Garage, A Teen Cafe (Safe Space for high-school students), Student scholarships, The Challenge race (Soap box derby race for children with mental/physical disabilities), Food & Clothing Bank, and more!

Our interactors helped run the event by providing help at food booths and helping the event run smoothly!

STAY TUNED FOR UPCOMING EVENTS!
